Mudroom bench 7 or 9 hooks?
I think I know what the answer will be but I guess I am looking for validation. The easiest part of this project, I thought, would be the hooks.... First, I was going to have just one row. Then at the last minute I decided to add a staggered second row. I thought it would be best to leave the first board on each end without a hook but now I think it looks unfinished. Should I add a hook to each end of the second row? Tutorial coming soon. Empty space on right side will house a charging station.
At the suggestion of hanging some items and seeing how it worked out. Wow! That was an eye opener. To me, the extra hooks wouldn’t be used... so unless, someone changes my mind, I think I’m leaving this as is. 🙂 I added a picture to show how just a few items, fills the space. And don’t you just Love the Hometalk bag?!?

Yes! The second row could stagger the first row and give you more hooks and then more coats could hang side by side. Looks great!
Do you live in a cold winter area? I just wonder because we do and our coats are pretty thick. If this was at my house, I would leave it as it, because the coats are pretty bulky.
It's going to look great, you've done a nice job!
Hi Stacy, it it were me, I would add the two extra hooks. If you are going to have two rolls of hooks then I would maximize the space and add the last two :)
it doesn't look unbalanced - I think it is very nice the way it is and very functional
Hello. It probably looks awkward or stark because there’s nothing hanging there now. Once you put an umbrella coat or hat up there I think it will look fine. Why not try and see if a placement of items that might show a realistic working use might reveal your current hook situation.
Personally I leave my kitchen apron hat and a little basket of faux lambs ear on my foyer hooks.
I think it looks great! I think you could leave as is so you have room to hang coats/hats/etc
Yes. Add the extra hooks. It looks off without them. You can never have enough.
How about changing out the bottom row for clips for gloves since you already have holes in the wood.
I think you did a great job and once you are using, it will be great as you have it currently. If you ever want to change up the look, you can go with black baskets or natural.
I would add the extra hooks/ You can use them for scarves as well as jackets, and purses or shopping bags. I think I would spray paint the baskets black, to go with a black and white theme.
Yes, add the extra hooks... and you did a great job, it looks amazing!
Hi Stacy, right to the edge and go for 9 hooks, nobody ever complained about too many hooks to hang things on! LOL!
I like the way it looks now - but 2 extra hooks would be helpful in terms of function!
I agree the more the better for extra storage. I say 9.
it looks perfect !
Hi,
It looks great as is or you could start again, (just kidding) Time will tell if you need extra hooks!
Ultimately I think it depends on how you’re going to use this. Do you expect it to be more functional or decorative? How much stuff do you anticipate hanging here? Answering those will answer your questions.
Love this! I’m doing the same thing in my entryway...and from your photos I’ve decided on adding a second row of hooks too. Where did you get your hooks?
