Autumn Acorn Pillow
Quick and easy crafts are absolutely my jam, but I also want my DIY and Home Decor projects to look elegant, gorgeous, and high quality. This DIY for the Easiest Autumn Acorn Pillow is inspired by all those trendy (aka expensive) home decor websites and stores.
Gather all supplies. Download, print and cut out the Easiest Autumn Acorn Pillow Patterns here: https://creativelybeth.com/easiest-autumn-acorn-pillow/. For Autumn I love the Pumpkin Spice, Walnut Brown, and Prickly Purple combination of Kunin Felt.
Layer two pieces of Kunin® Classic™ Walnut Brown Felt and Acorn Base pattern together, securing with straight pins and trace around the pattern with the MONOTWIN Permanent Marker then cut out with scissors. Repeat this process with two pieces of Kunin® Classic™ Prickly Purple Felt and Acorn Cap patterns. Trace and cut out one Leaf pattern from Kunin® Classic™ Pumpkin Spice Felt. I love the Fiskars Mixed Media Scissors for cutting heavier materials like felt.
Attach lace carefully to the top edge of the front Walnut Brown Felt Acorn base piece and Prickly Purple Acorn cap piece with straight pins. Thread embroidery floss onto a needle and straight stitch the lace, the acorn base, and the acorn cap together. Repeat with back of the Acorn base and cap, but without the lace. Did you know you can tint any cotton-based lace, ribbon, or trim with spray inks, markers, or re-inkers for ink pads? Check out this tutorial to see how to Dye Seam Binding Ribbon with Tombow Dual Brush Pens.
Stack the front and back layers of the Acorn together, line up the edges, and secure with straight pins. Thread an embroidery needle with floss and blanket stitch the edges, leaving a small two-inch opening at the side for stuffing. I love this DMC Coloris Embroidery Floss Canadian Night because it has variegated colors of brown, plum, and burnt orange which matches the felt colors perfectly!
Stuff the Acorn Pillow with Poly-Fil® from Fairfield World™ through the small opening left at the side. Pull apart small pieces of the stuffing and work down into each section of the pillow using a chopstick or pencil. I like a soft stuff, so I use a bit less Poly-Fil. If you prefer a harder stuff, use more and pack it tighter. Once the Acorn Pillow is stuffed, stitch it closed.
To finish the easiest Autumn acorn pillow, thread needle with embroidery floss and back stitch veins onto the Pumpkin Spice Felt Leaf and then stitch the leaf to the base of the Acorn stem.
I hope you will use the Easiest Autumn Acorn Pillow as a jumping-off point to showcase your Fairfield World™ creativity and create a colorful and elegant pillow to update your home decor for Fall! Switch up the colors to match your color palette, the possibilities are endless!
