DIY Magnetic Jewelry Shelf and Key Shelf
If you’re planning a DIY project, things can go wrong every now and then. And so you sometimes collect one or the other special material that you never do anything with again. The insulation measures in corona times sometimes help to force yourself to only work with existing material from the handicraft archive. And so the magnetic jewelry shelf came about.
In all fairness, I have to give you the tip to check beforehand whether your jewelry or your keys adhere well to magnets. Because not everyone does it equally well.
But I always find it a nice idea to simply stick things on the wall with magnets. It’s so straightforward and fun to clean up.
- Magnetic tape (self-adhesive)
- Wooden heart boxes
- Patterned craft paper (2 pieces)
- Scissors
- Ruler
- Pencil
- Paper / baking paper / aluminum foil
- Craft glue
- Tesa power strips
The whole thing is a very simple project.
First you unscrew the lid from the heart box.
Then you make a template for the inside of the box. For example, you can put thin baking paper or aluminum foil on the inside and fold the shape of the inside.
Now you transfer the template to the craft paper and cut out the two hearts.
Then glue the hearts to the inside of the two halves.
Since the lid of the box is 2.5 cm deep and the bottom 5 cm, exactly one magnetic strip fit into the lid and two next to each other in the side of the bottom.
Unroll the magnetic tape and let it lie flat on the table for now and weigh it down with heavy objects so that it doesn’t roll back by itself. Then measure the length of the inside and cut the strips to size.
Glue the magnetic tape into the side of the heart halves and press them firmly.
Now you can glue the wooden boxes to the wall with power strips, for example. Press the power strips firmly so that the boxes stick firmly.
The small magnetic jewelry shelf or key shelf is ready.

love this, you could also put a small heart shaped chicken wire in the heart to hang more earrings, I never have enough earrings lol or places to keep them!
