Easy Refresh for an Outdated Light

I love updating light fixtures - there are so many ways to update current light fixtures to make them look completely new, without breaking the bank! Light fixtures in a room are a statement piece, they can be so much fun and add character to just about any room.

This dining room was just recently renovated with shiplap walls and the current light fixture just was not mixing with the new enhancements so it was time to give this a refresh. All it took was some spray paint and new globes to make this ight go from drab to fab :-)

I found this old fixture on a yardsale site, which made for the perfect project! You can find so many fixtures if you scour the yardales and online facebook groups - people are always giving away or selling for cheap!

Remove all the globes and the lightbulbs - tape off anything you do not want to get painted. I would recommend taping off any electrical pieces/wires to protect them from the paint.

We used a semi gloss finish black spray paint to paint this fixture. You can use any sheen, semi gloss just gives it a nice shine. Make sure you paint any extra pieces - sometimes the light fixtures have metal rings that hold the bulbs in place, be sure to include those when painting!

Once the paint is dry, its time for new globes! These are my favorite ones to use, they are from Lowe's and add the perfect mix of modern and elegance.

Here is the before and after. The old, but updated, light fixture just makes the whole room seem new! This is the easiest way to update any fixture and save on cost!
