Pom Pom and Bead Garland
If you are looking for a super simple mantel idea to transition from Christmas to winter? This is the perfect project for you.
I'm all about it decorating my mantel for winter.
Here's an easy garland idea that transitions perfectly.
One minute it's a Christmas mantel, the next minute it's a winter wonderland decoration.
You've seen these floating around Pinterest before, but here's my twist with a gold tipped beads and snowball pom poms.
Here's the easy DIY for this bead and pom pom garland.
Start with wood beads
You can find these at any craft store.
They come in a variety of sizes with large and small holes.
I just bought everyone they had.
Wrap beads
Wrap each of the beads with painter's tape.
Start half way and wrap the bead in the middle. Pinch the painter's tape on the end.
The beads almost look like they are wearing caps.
Spray paint the beads gold
Let dry.
Remove tape.
When you are finished, the beads should look like this.
Continue removing the tape until all the beads are done.
Make pom poms
I made 10 pom poms for this garland. You can make more if you want to extend the length of the garland. Just add more pom poms and beads.
These are made out of fuzzy yarn to make them look like snowballs.
Wrap the yarn around the center of a card approximately 25 times.
Slide off the card and tie a piece of yarn around the center.
Cut the yarn loops at each end and fluff.
Repeat to make 10 pom poms.
String pom poms and wooden balls.
I tied a pom pom on the twine.
Next, I strung 5 wooden balls.
And repeat until you have the length of garland you want.
Tie off garland at each end
At the very last bead, tie off the jute twine around the bead.
Then, tie a pom pom onto the end.
Repeat the steps for the other end of the garland.
You should have the end of the jute twine hanging out at each end to make hanging easier.
You can see here how I added the pom pom and bead garland to my mantel. I just added a piece of tape to each end and then draped it in loops and taped it off at each loop.
You could also drape the garland over a door or add it to a stack of books for a coffee table display.
Happy winter decorating.

A great way of decorating the fireplace mantle for the holidays. Also a cute idea for hanging as a garland in a window or archway from one room to the next. LOVE IT.

Exactly what yarn did you use and color please? I love this!
Very cute, but cellotape on wood? Won’t that mark the wood when you remove it? 😊🎄🤶
