Securing porch trees?
I have two small artificial potted Christmas trees to flank my front door. Last year they were constantly blown over and off the porch. The pots they came in have a solid filler that the tree slides into with about a 3 inch head space. I tried filling the gap with gravel but that didn't help. Any ideas on how else to secure them?
TIA, Cassandra

Could you put a brick in the pot and then the tree on top?
put some concrete or heavy objects in the pot and then add the tree. Can you secure it with a outdoor Command hook and some ribbon or rope?
I'd say pour concrete in the available space, see if that helps. Otherwise, just keep finding heavier and heavier items that will fit in there or re-pot the trees into something you can make sturdy.
Can you not add some concrete to weight it down the hide the concrete.
If you can take the tree out, use sand, kitty litter or rocks to weigh down the pot. I would also add rocks on the top as well to keep the tree itself from blowing away. Or purchase two bigger pots and follow the the directions above.
Hi Cassandra. I made two porch trees last year with tomato cages and garland. I put a cement landscaping brick in the bottom of each large pot. They worked great and held the trees right where I put them. I recommend using bricks even if you have to change the pots to bigger ones. Good luck Cassandra and Happy Holidays.
What is your porch floor made out of - concrete or wood?
If wood, you could screw a couple of eye screws down into the floor on which to anchor wires to hold the trees in place.
Set each of them in a crate with bricks or heavy stones around the inside between the pots and the crate to prevent the moving of the crate. Gravity will hold this in place. You can decorate the crate to spruce up the festive trees.
It sounds to me like you are going to need to set those pots down inside a larger pot with something heavier in them. Those pots are likely too small which is why they can't be weighted down enough to keep the trees upright.
You could affix to the floor using something like Alien Tape. You can remove the tape from the pot and floor after the holiday is over.
Perhaps you could secure them by putting small cup hooks in the frame of you door and using fishing line to tie and secure.
Fishing line. It is clear and you can cut it to the size needed.
I’ve had the same problem with living plants in my screen porch in elevated plant stand. My solution was to put large rocks inside the pot. I am not sure you have the room in your to do that?
I put large rocks in our plants

Use a piece of string or wire and sling it around the trees about halfway up and fix back to the wall.
Hi Cassandra, the quickest and easiest would be to fill the bottoms with concrete.
