I have a little battery operated shaver
You can use a disposable razor.
Buy a lint remover on Amazon. They sell one with different heads for fine to medium stone that work on fine gauge sweaters and the opposite end is a lint brush.
A cheap disposable razor is the best tool. Basically, you "shave" the fabric.
There are products on the market to shave the pills off. Try Amazon.

I had a client who had a blanket with so many pills on it, I resorted to using a pair of hair clippers...... made pretty quick work of it on an ironing board, Just got to keep it kinda taut so you don't accidently cut the blanket.

I like to use an old disposable razor. Lay the fabric on a flat surface and run the razor over the piles to remove them.

I have a battery operated cordless fabric shaver. I picked mine up at Walmart years ago and it has been very good a removing pilling.
