Color for floating shelves?
I'm thinking of hanging floating shelves with pictures/frames on this empty wall in our "office" but I don't know what color...white to match the trim/shutters, black to match the furniture, or go with something totally different like natural wood. I don't want to hang frames all over the wall.
And, I should stagger them rather than one long shelf, right?
Thanks!

Black and/or teal.
To decide have co-workers or friends hold up what would be floating shelves, and then compare and contrast with something that would resemble a long shelf.
Personally I think a long shelf would look more professional and organized.
I think white would brighten things up. Personally, I would like a few shelves at different heights.
I would match them to the dark furniture if it were me then add lighter decor items on them or frames in lighter colors/lighter matte. I would stagger them and look on Pinterest for ideas.
Browse through some pics on a decorating website and decide what YOUR preferences is. Black would call more attention to the shelves and whie not as much since they wouldn't contrast with the wall color quite as much. Several staggered shelves would look nice on the large wall.
Black looks classy and goes with everything. If you want to lighten the area consider painting the wall a lighter color and then black would be a great high contrast pick.
Hi! There are lots of choices out there. Measure your space and use painters tape to determine placement. I like wood shelves with a dark finish. Even with everything else in white, it will stand out against your wall. Or, you could go with a more subtle finish, close or the same as your wall. Good luck!
Hello,
Either would work, but had you thought to use the wood colour at the bottom of your wall on the floor?
Black or white would work. Stagger them. They would look great. Tape up some strips of paper or cardboard to mimic shelves and move them around the wall.
Is that desk and bookshelf black or dark brown? I'd pick a could shades lighter of what those are or the color of the desk on the left.
I would do white to match your trim
White or black would look great.
That is quite a big wall to fill with only shelves displaying picture frames.
I would suggest that you have a large mirror in the centre of two shelves. This will help balance the (weight of the) window on the other wall, and will help reflect any light,- natural or artificial, in the room. A mirror will also add depth to the wall, making the room seem roomier than it is.
With defined areas for the floating shelves (flanking the mirror), their contents will be featured, rather than possibly looking dinky, as they will not be able to fill the wall space on their own.
Go with white shelves. This way it will be the pictures and their frames which be the focal points of interest, and not so much the shelves.
Also, it is much easier to add color to the space by changing the individual decor items or the individual picture frames on the shelves, rather than contending with trying to change the color of the shelves after they are installed. White shelves will complement anything displayed on them.
I saw two ladder shelves earlier going up each side of the walls in white matching the trim.. Loved them. you could put some books, pictures, trinkets, etc. On the center of the wall you could do pictures, mirror etc.
That’s a dilemma for sure! You might try placing painted pieces of wood up against the wall or have someone hold them up then switch them out so you can get a sense of what each color would do in the space. That should narrow it down for you.
Hi Kathy, it depends on your taste, if you them to "pop" use black shelves, if you want the illusion of the items on the shelves floating use the same color as your wall is painted, and for a subtle "pop" use white like the windows are trimmed in. Hope this helps you out
Color to match the desk..
I would match the desk or do white
