I am so excited to share this simple, romantic table runner with you all today. Create a lovely table and set the perfect mood for Valentine’s day in just 5 minutes!

Do you have plans for Valentine’s Day yet? This pandemic has changed the holidays for so many people on numerous different occasions this past year. And I have a feeling that this Valentine’s Day will end up looking different for many, as well.

As a serious introvert, I prefer to stay home on holidays that many others enjoy going out for. But I think that there will be a lot more of you than normal joining the “at home” ranks this coming holiday.

Never fear, though! It is outrageously easy to create a simple, romantic table runner for your at home celebrations.

Simple, Romantic Table Runner

About the only place I go anymore is the grocery store. Fortunately, the greenery and flowers I used should be easy to locate in the floral shop at your local grocer.

Supplies Needed:

Step 1 – Trim Eucalyptus

The first thing I did was trim the eucalyptus stems down to approximately 1 ft. in length. They will lay flatter this way, and create a fuller look on the table.

Step 2 – Position Eucalyptus

Next, arrange the eucalyptus running the length of your table. Put a couple of branches on each end of the table with the stems facing inward, toward the center of the table. Then, work your way towards the center with more stems, tucking the ends under leaves where possible.

Step 3 – Add Candles

I had some simple glass votives on hand, and simply placed them along the length of the eucalyptus. I alternated sides with the candles, and tried to tuck them into natural breaks in the leaves.

You could also use candlesticks, if you prefer. The low lying centerpiece makes conversation easier, though, without having to dodge tall candles. 😉

Step 4 – Create a Small Centerpiece

Then, create a small centerpiece to add some color and draw the eye to the center of the table.

My daughter picked out the pink roses for me, which are just perfect for Valentine’s Day. I used a very small round vase I had on hand and simply snipped a few roses down and added a couple of small pieces of eucalyptus.

Believe me when I say, I have literally no floral arranging abilities. So, if I can do this, you can, too!

Step 5 – Light the Candles

All that’s left is to light the candles, and enjoy!

Depending on how dry the air is in your area, the eucalyptus should stay fresh for anywhere from 1-3 days. However, if you don’t mind it dry, it will last for a few weeks on your table, just as it is.

*Word of Caution* Eucalyptus leaves are poisonous to animals (as well as humans) if ingested. If you have animals (or babies), you need to make sure that the eucalyptus is either out of reach, or supervised at all times.

If you don’t (or can’t) leave the eucalyptus out as a table runner, you can always throw it in a vase with some roses for a lovely arrangement that will last for awhile once your dinner or celebration is over.

I hope this has given you some inspiration for the upcoming holiday. It may look a bit different this year, but that doesn’t mean it can’t still be beautiful.
