What is your project? The intended purpose?
Where are the straps and what is going to be the function of them if you can get them temporarily connected? Posting a picture of your project would help illustrate what you are working with.
Without knowing your project, it is hard to suggest something that has the right degree of adhesion without damaging. You might try something as gentle as a stencil adhesive.
Velcro’s adhesive shouldn’t mar the leather if you’re only going to use it for a couple of weeks.
Since real leather is porous, you might test this in an inconspicuous spot first.
Alien Tape should work.
Hello. Interesting question. Would a self-adhesive Velcro double adhesive tape or command adhesive work or your situation. Using it with a metal ring or ring keychain that automatically opens might be a possibility. Thinking how old horse is bridle pieces attaches, this being a not weight bearing solution.
Posting a picture of your leather straps might give us some more information and be able to give us some clues to offer a better suggestions. If it’s for a weight-bearing application I cannot see a solution on how to do this without making eyelet holes or more structural secure connection.

velcro strips
Hi Marie, it depends on how strong the connection between the two straps needs to be. You can try extra sticky putty or double sided tape.
