Ok, so 'disheveled' may not be a truly apt description for the condition I got this piece in.. more like 'destroyed pile 'o' mess'! Being in a barn for over quarter of a century, hadn’t done it any justice. It was, in fact, the second most abused piece I have ever taken on to 'fix up'. My husband only agreed to bring it home because he thought it might make a good 'whiskey' bar for him. Two weeks came and went with absolutely no inspiration for this piece.. I was at a dead halt.

The following week my husband informs me that he has decided that he does not want this as his bar. So, back to the drawing board.. When I went into our garage to look again at the 'pile' that was this poor piece of furniture, I swore I heard it tell me it's , eh hem... 'HER' name, was Lola... well the light bulb went on, and I knew the butterfly she would become... I threw everything but the kitchen sink at this girl, and she wanted more! See her incredible transformation below..

This is how I found poor Lola. She was dirty, and terribly painted. At one time she had been painted a very bright pink, and then painted again in black, none of the beautiful wood (I eventually uncovered) showed.

The first order of business was to get her clean.. then on to the tedious job of stripping and sanding. I started with the drawers, and then the base of the cabinet. The doors ended up being too damaged to save, so I discarded them but managed to save the front decorative wooden trim for use later...

Here the top has been stained with Minwax Jacobean (one of my all time favs!) , and she's been painted with Fusion's Little Stork a lovely pastel grey. I had also started slight distressing, and glazing with a darker grey (right side detail. the glaze was one I already had on hand). The inside was painted with Heritage All In One paint in Tea Rose.

I took the back off of the shelves, painted it white, then measured where I wanted my stripes and painted them with both the light grey and the rose color (I used Frog Tape to create the stripes, only tape I use for painting). I then stenciled the coffee motif with Fusion's Ash grey.

The insides of the drawers were also painted Tea Rose, and the middle drawer got an extra bit of sass using a stencil and Fusion's Brushed Steel. The front's of the drawers were stripped, sanded, stained (Jacobean) and I painted a silver (brushed steel) stripe on the top of each drawer. The pink raised design was created by adding the rose color to Fusion's embossing paste, and putting it on with a stencil. She also got brand new hardware.

The big, center, drawer got silver striping and an inside stencil.

And here is where the decorative wooden piece from the original front doors went to! I added them to the shelving unit, well, because it was boring and Lola was anything but that now...

And here she is in all her new glory!!

I am proud to introduce LOLA, a soft-spoken lady, who loves to sip Lattes, loves puppies, and kitties and all things soft and ‘girly’, and who always wanted to go to Paris, but never did.icon

Side view...

She's ready for her close up Mr. Deville!.. Pretty sure Lola is now feeling very "Devine"! Wouldn't you agree?

It looks great! Question though. Why the $500 price tag to refinish it?

Beautiful! Just a suggestion... how ‘bout doors on the bottom instead of the basket/boxes.

I can’t find the list of materials you used. I’m especially interested in the stencils. Hopefully you’ll remember where you purchased them. Thank you very much
