How do I descale the heating coil of my wallpaper steamer?
Have a small, non-commercial wallpaper steamer. Simple design - heavy see-through plastic container with a heating coil. The heating coil needs descaling. Thought about heating up a vinegar-water solution. Somebody suggested CLR. Thoughts?

I agree CLR would work but your first instinct would be mine as well. I would try just soaking it in white vinegar over night.
Hi! Did you check what the manufacturer recommends? I would seek their advice. I'm sure they either have a tutorial or customer service that can tell you how to clean it without damaging it. Good luck!
I would look online for the mfg of your steamer and ask them how to descale it so it doesn't mess it up
Hi Marion, here's a youtube video that may provide you some good advicae. This is about a commercial sized wallpaper steamer. He suggests Lemi-Cleaner Booster used made to be used in dishwashers for those having hard water. I hope this is helpful!

Soak in vinegar. Cheaper than CLR. You don't know what CLR can do to the coil
I'd try the vinegar-water solution!
Just soak in vinegar for a while and wipe clean
Check with the manufacturer first but you could try vinegar. I tried CLR on a humidifier once and it ruined the machine so I'd be wary of that route.
Yes, Vinegar, or maybe Kitchen de-Scaler or Toilet de-scaler??
