Is there a sure-fire way to get rid of Creeping Charley?
These look like shoots from a tree root. Was there a tree that was cut down? Even if it was cut years ago these shoots can travel from the root and come up for years.
It might be bamboo which is very invasive. Except the leaves don't look right. Does it come up anywhere else in your yard?
I guess it depends on what they are...but I always attack first with a vinegar spray to kill the weeds, then I remove the dead plants and any roots, turn the soil over and wait to see if it comes back. If it does, I need to go deeper with my digging.
Take a cutting down to your local extension office, master gardeners or a nursery. They should be able to identify it.
Hi! Identifying it will make your attack plan more focused. I usually dig them up to keep them from spreading. You can cut them down and then cover the area with plastic, an old mat, or even layers of wet newspaper to "smother" them, much like landscape fabric keeps weeds from growing in a flower bed. Good luck!
Hi, give this recipe a try, it's all natural. Just be sure to spray only what you want gone!

Hello, I have a suggestion for identifying. Download the Google photo app if you don't already have it . Take a pic with you phone camera then open the Google photo app, then take the little icon and kinda like an eye but kinda square with a dot. Lol Anyways like magic Google will identify it or/and items very similar and help you narrow it down. Then I'd ask Alexa what's the best way to rid it once and for all!
Pull them out and then put down a thick layer of mulch around the plants
They look like horsetail plants to me. You could cut them and sell them! $15 a bunch on this site: https://www.etsy.com/listing/900726957/25-35-pcs-horsetail-plant-bouqet-45-60?ref=sold_out-2

Here are some tips that may help: https://www.bobvila.com/slideshow/9-natural-ways-to-kill-weeds-45747
Take examples to your County Extension and have them ID them, they should be able to tell you the best course of action. I would pull 1 or more out to see if they are multiplying by a root or a tuber system, that would also help with the ID.
Buy a liquid brush killer and a dollar store small crafts paint brush and latex gloves.
Mix the brush killer with whatever ratio of water it needs and a couple of drops of dish soap in a disposable cup.
Cut the stems and hand paint a drop of the brush killer on each of the cut stems.
If it’s going to rain in one day, wait or cover the cut treated weeds with plastic.
I use a weed killer on these kinds of growths. I got it at Lowes and works perfectly. I first cut them to the ground, put some salt around the area then the weed kiler
If you have animals or children ? Then this is the way to go... The hottest water. Pour it directly on weed(s). It soaks down into the root killing it.
Try the free app iNaturalist to identify it or ask at your local garden center then research the best way to get rid of it. Try to avoid chemicals and weed killers if possible as they are incredibly damaging.
Hello, first water the weeds you want to get rid of, this softens the soil and makes them easier to pull. If you don't get all of it when you pull it, fill a sprays bottle with white vinegar and spray it on the remaining parts of the weeds, when they die back fully dig them out and burn them, or dispose them.
