Make more room?
My laundry room is small. There are metal cabinets above the washer and dryer that I think take up more room than they give in storage

I think it is best to remove those metal cabinets which you think takes up space so you can utilize those spaces and find a better alternative which can be really used a storage.
Maybe you could move them? If you have a picture, it would help us to give you more ideas.
Make a plan on how to optimize the space over the w/d and the rest of the room. Take the cabinets down and add a shelf, also a bar to hang clothes. Without seeing what your laundry room looks like it is hard to give practical suggestions.
I took mine down and did this. The detergent is in a clear pump bottle from Amazon and the Oxiclean is in and old mason jar. Other items are stored in vintage ceramic black and white containers.
Use the search bar at the top left and search out ideas from Hometalkers, then narrow it to your favorites. You can certainly remove the cabinets and rework the space to fit your usage better.
Hello Katherine,
In that case, take them down and replace with shelves. Best wishes.
From the description of your laundry room is it almost impossible to guess what it really looks like. Please post a picture or two so that we can see exactly what sort of space you have to work with.
Can you share a photo? That would help us give the best advice. :)
You could switch to shelving and cabinets that are not as deep. If you go with shelving, put $ in your budget for bins. I went from shelving to cabinets because it always seemed messy to me. Unless you are wanting to stack your units, I don't know how a cabinet could take up more space than it gives in storage though. A photo would really help.
A photo would be very helpful to see the layout.
Hi Katherine, you can take the doors off the cabinets, that may make more room for you.
you could remove the metal cabinets and use shelves instead

Remove the cabinets and add shelving
I had cabinets that were awful and cheap. I added pipe that were precut and threaded from Home Depot and shelves. TONS of storage now and love the new look. The pipes are screwed into the flange that are attached to the studs.
