Does anyone know what this is?
I found it on my walls underneath molding, so I'm figuring it's a type of wallpaper. I know it's older and I've never seen this kind before. I kinda like it.

Looks like vintage grass cloth. Looks cool. Are you keeping it?

HI there I agree it looks like vintage grass cloth - very cool!
Some kind of vintage grass. probably raffia running vertically, not too sure of the horizontal woven fibers. It creates a terrific vintage effect, it will be interesting to see how you finish off your decor.
Could it also have had horse hair woven in?
I love it! I think it's a gem to discover and you should leave it on your wall!
It is definitely vintage grasscloth.
Grass cloth. It comes in rolls like wallpaper and it rather expensive anymore.
Grasscloth wallpaper for sure. High end.
grass cloth wall paper doesn't have hollow gaps in it like this
Looks like grass cloth and this lends a unique and beautiful texture.
I agree with the grass cloth, or it could be hemp or bamboo. All these were hot in the 1970s. The 1970s eco friendly, natural fibers.
I think if you frame that mirror with some bamboo shoots and paint the shelf green and maybe paint the trim on the doors of the hall in a green, it would look really nice. Just my opinion!
Yep, 70’s grasscloth.
In your evaluation on whether or not you want to keep it,
if it shows any mildew, you could spray a lot of Lysol on it.
If it is falling off the wall in places, you could use a wallpaper seam repair (wallpaper glue in a tube).
Looks like a weaved grass cloth. Looks old
This was common building method around here (south)...ours is 1x12 tongue and groove western red cedar...rough side out. Tacked to that with thousands of little nails was burlap (hussian). They wallpapered over the burlap. The wallpaper stuck to the burlap, the burlap could move a bit on the walls so the movement of the house didn't tear or wrinkle it. They even did the ceilings that way. It worked...many of the rooms and a couple of the ceilings still have the original paper on them!
That's awesome! Very boho which is in right now. You could totally add some macramé and rope type wall hangings and rock the area for very cheap!
