After you have finished sewing up your outdoor cushions, I would highly recommend spraying them with quality brand fabric protectant.
While it won't make the fabric entirely waterproof (unless they are 100% vinyl) it will greatly help to make the fabric repel water and reduce staining.

I’ve seen several ideas on Hometalk recently. Try the search bar at the top left for lots of great tutorials.
I have seen them made with vinyl table cloths. Cut the size you want, fold face to face, stitch up all side except leave a 4 inch area not stitched. Turn right side out. Fill with polyester fiberfill. Glue on or stitch on hook and loop strips or dots. Done.
I would make sure the materials purchased, time spent and cost of fabric make this a more economical since rather than just getting new ones. You will want UV protectant fabric as well which costs more. You can find some great selection and Home Goods store that may not break the bank!

Hi! If you have a cushion already, just make a new slipcover for it. If you need cushions, you can buy the foam already cut and make a simple cover. When I was just starting out, I would save old bed pillows to make cushions from. You can alter the shape and size to meet your needs with some simple sewing. Dropcloths have lots of sturdy yardage to make covers from. You can also make them out of any sturdy fabric. I used to check the remnants at the fabric store for good deals on outdoor fabric, too.
