It would depend on the type of bugs you have but 3 years ago I made a small investment in a Dynatrap insect catcher. It lures insects and sucks them inside. You dump out the bottom when it is full. It was by far the best thing I've ever done. It is placed a bit away from where you sit because it attracts them. After the 1st year, there were very little insects. The 2nd & 3rd year I have not seen any although I keep it running. It was just over $125 for a 1 acre unit and I would buy another if it died tomorrow.
Other than that, you can try to research plants that keep them away, depending on which insects. As for mosquitoes, you can spray the area with original Listerine a few minutes before going into the area and that helps quite a bit as well.
I use Home Defence bug spray on my porch it works very well.
What kind of bugs are you trying to get rid of? Mosquitos? We have one of those zappers that looks like a tennis racket. If you have invasive bugs that are eating plants, I would suggest using an organic pesticide like pyethrins: https://amzn.to/3coB6WJ
I use Ortho home defense bug spray you can buy it at Walmart, Home Depot, etc it is great you spray outside your house as well as inside and it keeps the bugs away follow instructions on the spray bottle- this works much better than when we had exterminator coming every 2 months
I don't know if you are looking for bug deterrents in general, but I have to tell you, this is the saving grace for keeping the mosquitos away from our porch: https://amzn.to/3ipGY5R
If at night, use a yellow bulb, it will not draw bugs like a white one does.

Hi! I switch out the regular porch light bulb for a yellow one in the summer. Works great!
Agree with Cynthia, the yellow bug light makes a huge difference. And then you could also spray the porch with a non-toxic bug repellent like Greenerways Bug Repellent that comes in a yard size that attaches to hose.
If the bugs are bugging you on the porch, try the fan trick.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WvI2aWZXPCE add an open bottle of club soda in front of the fan will attract them even more (CO2)
Hi Mary, bugs don't like wind, put an oscillating fan on your deck. Here are some other ideas for you to try,

Hi Mary, one eco-friendly solution is to plant some bug-repelling plants around your porch or even in a few pot plants. Here's a great article on the different types of plants you could use: https://www.treehugger.com/plants-that-repel-unwanted-insects-4864336
