Scrap Wood Clamp Rack
I was lucky enough that Bessey Tools sponsored an entire clamp collection but where on earth was I supposed to put 36 new clamps?? I whipped up this clamp rack using scrap wood and it was so easy! Wait until you see how functional it is!
I have this huge pile of clamps to get organized and they can be an awkward shape to store.
First, I used a scrap 1x6 and cut notches every 1.5 inches. I think this would have been easier with a table saw or jigsae but I really wanted to see if I could pull it off with my miter saw only.
Make sure that the notches are wide enough to fit your clamps. Mine took 4 passes with the saw blade for each notch to reach the correct width.
Next, using the excess 1x6 I made my brackets/braces for the rack. I left 2 inches squared and cut the rest at a 45 degree angle.
This gave me 2 pieces that look like this for the sides of my rack.
Using my clamps (how ironic) I assembled the sides of the rack.
Drilling in my screws through the side. A pocket hole would be cleaner but I was trying to pump out this project pretty quickly.
Lastly, I used a scrap 1x2 to attach to the back of the shelf (and inside the side pieces) to give me something to hang it by. You could use any width board for this.
Here you can see how I used the back 1x2 piece to attach it to the wall (by screwing into the studs).
Look how nicely they fit in there!
This was so simple and easy!

What a great project! Good thing you had the clamps to make the clamp rack! LOL! We could use some more clamps, as the ones we currently have are two short for most of our project. Thanks for the tip!
