How I Made a Stunning Succulent Wreath for Free!
You may recall this Easter wreath I made for $15, well I thought it might be about time to change it up!
I FOUND this faux basket of succulents on garbage day! Gotta love bulk pick up.
I started by taking out all the spring flowers and greens but re used some of the items on the original wreath.
These succulents were just stuck in a Styrofoam material.
I started by washing the fake succulents in some water with a brush and let them dry.
Then I just laid it out on the frame to get an idea of how I wanted to position the succulents.
After that, I started weaving them through the fame. Most of the fake plants have a wire inside already which makes this part easier but if not you can always use a separate thin wire to get the job done.
I think the secret to a stunning wreath is to have a lot of dimension. You will want items in various sizes. Also the vine like items are great for weaving through areas that are "dead" space. I also like smaller items like faux eucalyptus to cover up areas were the wire or weaving may be visible.
Another important thing to keep in mind for a succulent wreath is to try to find different colored greens, again to give it more dimension. For example, if I had two of the same looking succulent or similar color, I used one on one wreath and one on the other rather then using the similar items on the same wreath. This made it look more real!
