I'm addicted to Retique It liquid wood..yup, I admit it. 🤣😂

Seriously though, it has enabled me to get a wood finish on pieces I couldn't sand down and stain. Such as laminate, marble, glass..you name it! These are my most popular techniques over the last year.

I'm starting off with 3 of the same shelf boards. They are just pressed wood (particle board).

I cleaned each one to prepare it. I found Gloss-Off Krud Kutter and love it! If you can't find it, regular Krud Kutter works as well as a 50/50 mix of Denatured alcohol and water combo.

Now for the good stuff! Retique It has a product called liquid wood. It is just that! It is made with 60% wood fibers which makes it stainable.

I applied 2 coats to each board using my Wonder Brush. It has soft smooth bristles for a smooth finish.

On the first sample..I kept a Traditional look by wiping Retique It Water-based Gel Stain on with a rag going in one direction. This stain allows you to build to achieve as deep of a color as you want with more coats.

Here is the look after 3 coats. It dries within minutes so it really took no time at all.

My 2nd sample I used Iron Orchid Designs (IOD) Stamps. These stamps are reusable ..as you see, mine have been much loved. 😂

Roll on a small amount of paint on the stamp, then place on your piece and press down firmly without moving it around. I used Retique It Midnight Black paint.

Keep in straight lines. The kit comes with 3 designs, so I use a different one for each line across.

After the paint dried, I wiped on the Retique It gel stain the same as I did for the traditional look.

Here is what it looks like on a previous project.

For my last look I applied one more coat of liquid wood and while it was wet I pulled across my wood graining tool. This is so much fun.

Sorry that it's so hard to see, but here is the look after using the wood graining tool. It looks just like a real wood pattern!

Again..I used Retique It Gel Stain after the liquid wood dried. It looks amazing!

Here is an example I did previously with a different color stain.

Lighting makes a huge difference in color! I had taken pictures of the process inside of my shop, but wanted to show you how beautiful it looks in true daytime light.

So...which is your favorite look?

Would you be able to tell me if I can use the Retique on drywall in a bathroom? I know it says its water based so I'm worried that with the humidity in the bathroom it won't work?
