Hi Connie, strange as it may seem, scatter a bit odry f Jiffy Cornbread Muffin Mix onto the surface of the soil on you plant. Within about 3 days the ants will be gone!
Following is a a quote from a previous Hometalk post......
" It is non toxic to humans and pets but the corn meal is deadly to ants. There is some sugar in the mix and that will attract the ants, they will carry it back to the colony. Ants cannot digest corn meal so it kills them"
You could also add boric acid (dollar tree) to the Jiffy corn muffin mix. Equal amounts. Place this outside of the plants, it will draw the ants and they will take it back to the colony.

Agreed on the cornbread! Ants cant digest it but they will eat it right up and it won't hurt your plants at all.
Sevin granules or diatomaceous earth will take care of them.
I've heard the cornbread trick too! Never tried it, but many say it works!
I spray mine with Dawn Platinum and water, Ants do not like soapy water.
