DIY Kitchen Mat Re-do

Our kitchen mat has been looking quite sad. It's dirty from being spilled on, and gets a ton of foot traffic all day long. I really didn't want to have to buy a new one, so I decided to give the old one new life!
This is my before mat:
Gross looking. I started by cutting out fabric that was about an inch bigger on each side than the mat.
I ironed my fabric to make sure there were no wrinkles. Then, I used Mod Podge and painted the glue all over the top of my old mat.
I carefully placed my fabric over and smoothed out any wrinkles. I made sure to get all the edges with a lot of glue.
I painted more Mod Podge on top of the fabric as well, and let it dry overnight. I knew that since the fabric I chose was thinner, you'd be able to slightly see the design underneath. It didn't matter to me though!
After it dried, I used an Xacto knife to cut off the excess fabric around the mat. All done!
It's just what I was hoping for, and it looks great, too! It's not perfect, but it works for me!

I want to do this with my ugly foam mats but I'm concerned with cleaning . How do you clean your mat?
