Pom Poms for Home Decor?!

I never really give into the in thing, but I have seen these darling fluffy pom poms floating around on the net and thought that I should give them a try. I've made them before using them for beanies and knitted slippers but not for decor.
They were really fun and easy and I had all of the materials at home. So I sat down for an hour and made a wreath and 2 garlands.
I had a Styrofoam wreath base and some white yarn so all I had to do was to make the pom poms. Here is how I made them.
I cut a piece of cardboard about 4" wide and wound the white yarn on. It put on a lot because I wanted fluffy ones.
I pulled the wound yarn off the cardboard and tied a piece of yarn around the middle and then knotted it really good.
I then cut through both ends of the loops. I did a little trimming, not a lot but just enough to make them all even. Simple!
I used 3 skeins of yarn and glued on three rows. One on the outer rim, the inner rim, and middle of the wreath base. Then I hung a cut Valentine on it. I was amazed at how fun and easy it was.
For the garlands I just threaded some yarn through the pom poms and strung them on my kitchen window
and bookcase. They are a really cute decor for winter. You could use any color and make them for just about anything you could think of. Give them a try you'll love them. See my blog for more fun ideas! Jo
