Patriotic Door Hanger

4th of July is almost here and I wanted to share this new fun Patriotic Door hanger I made for our door.
I found this great red metal tin door hanger for $1.95 a few weeks ago at a thrift store.
I love it when I find great pieces for a great price and knew it would be perfect for the Americana/Patriotic Holidays too.
I like to find ways to create things without spending a lot of money so that I can keep my budget down and hopefully inspire some of you to get your creative thinking caps on too.
So, one little secret I have is I sometimes take strolls through the Dollar Tree or the 99 Cents store looking for inspiration. Sometimes an item will inspire me or grab my attention.
So while I was strolling I saw this cool roll of stars and stripes DUCK TAPE. Hmm, how can I make a bow out of duck tape? And I saw these blue carnation like flowers, which are ok but then I thought I can make coffee filter flowers (I have coffee filters at home) and add the blue flowers to them. DONE!!! That’s how my inspiration or creative juices work sometimes….lol.
I then tied my bow which if you haven’t done one it’s really easy and it’s a series of loops back and forth and tie it in the center and the fluff the loops.
To make the flowers I pinched the centers and layered about 5 coffee filters for each and half of them I put the blue flowers in the centers.
There are more steps in the tutorial and pictures and I'd love for you to come on over to the blog to see the rest.

Thank you and have a great day, Lisa.
