Desk Organizer With IKEA Spice Racks

I moved a console table into my kid's room to use as a desk and homework station. The desktop is small so I wanted to move all his supplies off the surface but still be visible and accessible. This is what I did...
I bought two IKEA BEKVAM spice racks and some pencil holders from the dollar store. Four containers fit perfectly into each spice rack, making storage for everything you need for office supplies.
I painted the spice racks with black milk paint to upgrade the look and make it co-ordinate with the rest of the room's decor.
The containers easily move down to the desk surface as needed and keep everything in place while you're using it.
Here's how they look in the space. Take a look at the blog post here http://bit.ly/1FHjXTO for more details and photos, and links to more ideas for using these spice racks for storage.

Miriam Illions on May 22, 2015I bought those spice racks as bathroom storage shelves, but yours are waay more stylish than mine, for alas i didn't paint them. Might try to after seeing how good yours look, though!
