Making your own laundry detergent is a great way to save a few bucks a year. We experimented with a few simple recipes and found that the winning combo of ingredients costs about 7 cents per load compared with about 20 cents per load for a commercial brand.
Plus, DIY detergent is a nice alternative if you’re sensitive to the fragrances in store-bought products.

For the experiment, we washed strips of cloth covered with an untreated mustard stain using different recipes. You can see how it looked after being washed with a commercial brand.
It's much fainter with our winning recipe.

Jane S on Jan 01, 2016to Swan Road Designs - Your comment about the warning to not iron a garment while wearing it made me laugh. hmmmm, I suppose that might be one way to get warm on a cold day? But, really - where is common sense - apparently not around all that much anymore. lol. Thank you for the laugh
