I love the fresh open air, sound of the seagulls and the soft colors when your at the beach. I decided to bring this beautiful colors into my sitting room and on my mantle.
Here is what I did.
First of all I painted my mantle with a lovely light blue chalk paint. Then I shopped my house for anything that was seaside like. Blue vintage Ball jars, seashells, colored sea glass, plaster white birds, an octopus, and a mermaid. I used several vintage books and bundled them and painted the sides in beach tones.
I had some old blue bottles and stuck a starfish in one, that really added to the seaside effect.
I had to add my parrots on some tied vintage books. A big piece of sea glass and sea shells.
Vintage Ball jars with shells and dried lavender are in the center. Underneath is a vintage book page garland to give the color of the sand.
Here is the mantle completed. But I went a step further . . .
I added the same soft colors to my coffee table and a book written for children about the sea. Shopping my house really saves me money, as well as unwanted decor at the end of the season.
Enjoyed the project?
