A New Bathroom Cleaning Routine That Gives Me Energy

At a recent conference I went to, there was a session all about personal energy management. The advice was to think about when we have high energy and when we have low energy by identifying which tasks increase our energy and which tasks drain our energy. The key is being aware of what our energy levels are throughout the day; each person’s energy levels rise and fall uniquely to them. I have been implementing the lessons taught in this “Energy is Everything” session in my life, especially with how they relate to cleaning the house. A clean house gives me energy but thinking about when I can fit cleaning the house into my schedule makes the task hang over my head a bit, which is draining. I work from home so it is important that house is clean because that helps me feel ready to take on my work. I focused these new cleaning routine changes on our bathroom and bedroom first, because I believe the bedroom should be relaxing and free from any work or worries. Today I’m going to share my new bathroom cleaning routine and how I put it into action with Scrubbing Bubbles® Multi Surface Bathroom Cleaner and Scrubbing Bubbles® Toilet Cleaning Gel. Tomorrow I’ll be sharing about how I used clearance and repurposed items to make my own personal spa retreat in the bathroom.
Cleaning the house is physically tiring but is actually an energizing activity for me mentally. I like to see the results of my hard work and I enjoy the order of a clean home. My challenge is fitting cleaning the house into my schedule. I decided to schedule a specific time during the week to clean my bathroom. One of the messages that really stuck with me from the energy session was the advice to “automate” decisions and tasks that you don’t need to decide on every day. The example given in the session was to automate the “what’s for dinner?” decision by planning a menu that had the same menu items each night of the week. For example, Monday is always spaghetti night. I struggle with when to clean the house and which room to start on. I usually start in one room and end up cleaning it top to bottom and wearing myself out. For cleaning my bathroom, I decided to choose a time that I was usually not doing much, a time that would help me relax afterwards, and a time that I am not working. I think the biggest mistake I have made in the past is trying to fit in cleaning during my work week. I know this sounds really boring but I decided to use Saturday Night as the time to clean my bathroom. Typically, I am winding down from the day around 7pm and I am home from whatever activities we did that day. I love to come home to a clean house so if we go out again to see a movie or something around 8 or 9pm, I can totally enjoy it and know that I am coming home to a relaxing bathroom. Waking up on Sunday morning to a clean bathroom is wonderful! I use Scrubbing Bubbles® Multi Surface Bathroom Cleaner and Scrubbing Bubbles® Toilet Cleaning Gel to help me quickly and efficiently clean the bathroom.
