DIY His & Hers Towel Hooks
I made these ‘His and Hers’ towel hooks as part of the master bedroom Interior makeover. This DIY Modern Towel hooks are really easy to make as it only involves few cuts, paint and gluing pieces together.

For this DIY, you basically need a 1 inch wide flat aluminum and 1inch wood square dowel. You can also use scrap pieces if you got any from other projects.
CUT
Pick up a miter box or use a miter saw for cutting. Cut the square dowel into 1 and half inch long pieces (2nos for two hooks). Then cut the aluminum flat. For each hook you need one 5 inch long piece and one 3 inch long piece. Basically, this wood piece will be sandwiched in between the aluminum pieces. The longer aluminum piece goes on the wall and the other is the front of the hook.
MAKE WALL MOUNT HOLES
Next, predrill holes on the long aluminum piece that goes on the wall. First, mark the location for the screw hole and drill a pilot hole. Initially, I only made one screw hole, thinking this will be enough. But you need two screws to mount the hook without any play. So, I made another one only while mounting. But remember to do two holes at this stage. After the pilot hole, widen the hole with 3/8” bit and then create a countersink for the screw head.
SAND & PAINT
Now, sand the edges of the metal to get a smooth profile. Otherwise these sharp edges can hurt someone when using the hook. Then simply clean with alcohol and spray paint in color of your choice. Do a thin coat first and then apply multiple coats until you get good coverage.
Meanwhile stain & seal the wood too. I am going for light wood and black combination, So I am just sealing the wood with PU.
Once dry, glue them together with epoxy glue. Wait for 24hrs to dry and then hang on the wall. (First, I tried the clear grip gorilla glue shown in below picture. It couldn’t withstand the weight of towels and came apart. So, then I mended with epoxy glue. It holds great now)
TAGS
I cut two small wood pieces and made a tag using vinyl letters. I used my cricut explore machine to create the texts ‘his’ & ‘her’ and added to the wood base. These tags are completely optional but I felt these tags completed the look of the towel hooks.
MOUNT ON WALL
Mark the location on wall, trace the screw holes and mount the hooks. Since we have drywall, I used drywall anchors to mount. The wood tags are mounted with double sided tapes.
I am using them for mounting bath towels. You can make these hooks for your entry way, coats, hats etc.. Its definitely stylish and easy to make.
Tip: You can touch up any scratched off paint and the screw head simply by spraying the can-paint into a paper cup and apply paint using a small paint brush
