Outdated Heart Shelf- See What I Did With Mine!

by The Bird's Nest
(IC: homeowner)
The great thing about those HEART shelves everyone had, is they usually were solid oak. I just took the back off and there was a solid oak shelf which is timeless. But I never get rid of anything so here is what I did.
I found 2 wooded hangers, a small mirror to cover up the heart, and some old drawer pulls.
I painted them all to match then glued the mirror over the heart and added the pulls. There is was, a great towel holder for your guest bathroom.

Omg!!! I have 1 of these HEART shelves. We bought our house(a 1986 build) a few yrs ago and it is in the kitchen. I just took it down and chalk painted it white. It already has wooden knobs. But, now you have my mind goin because i have several of the OLDER wooden hangers ( why are the OLDER ones sooo hard to find???) And im goin to so borrow ur idea for my kitchen. Its done in Southern Farm house style...Thank you for sharing!!!! -

Great job! I love seeing something that is different for a change & is useful to just about anyone over 30! My bff has a wooden heart box for storing plastic bags (grocery or dollar store ones, ect) in to reuse. There is a heart (hole) for the entrance @ the top and a heart shaped hole at the bottom for exiting when you need to use one. It was his grandmother's so he is reluctant to toss it. I have racked my brain trying to think of how to "fix" it. I have painted it, but the hearts are still a necessary (sweet) evil! Any ideas??
