I cut this tired old thrift store dresser in half to give it a new life as 2 awesome pieces. The bottom half became cute toy storage for my kids. The top is a great Farmhouse-style vanity in our half bathroom.
Follow the link for full details.
I stripped the old paint off the dresser with my trusty Citristrip. (aff)
Then carefully marked the cut line across the middle of the dresser. I cut the dresser with my circular saw. Make sure drawers are out while cutting. The dresser top got new 3/4" wood as it's new bottom.
I added a new frame around the old bottom piece so that it could support the new top.
I used glue and brad nails to attach the new pieces to the existing supports in the corners.
The vanity got new screw in legs.
The finished toy storage has a shelf for more storage. Love the paint on this. So cute for toy storage.
Farmhouse-style look for the vanity. This vanity is part of my powder room makeover, here on Hometalk. You won't believe the before and after pictures.
