Little Girls Vanity

I had this child- sized vanity sitting in the garage for quite a while. I didn’t know that I’d meet a 2 and a half year old little girl named Fiona who would inspire me!

I had been in “painting paralysis” with zero motivation. Many may have read that I work with Seniors in the Assisted Living industry. Children’s Furniture did not feel like my future until I met Fiona. At 2 and a half years old- she magically inspired me to pick up the brush again. I gave this piece a really good deep clean before doing anything. I like Miss Lillian’s First Step Prep because it seems to pull oils and filth just the way I need it to. It’s my new “go-to” cleanser.

The good stuff

now back to Fiona. She’s a total “girly- girl” who loves to visit my Assisted Living.she will sing, dance, play and entertain the seniors like it’s her career path. Since she comes every Friday, we call those days Fiona Fridays. I knew she’d need something special.

Getting started

Using products from the Miss Lillian’s No Wax Chock Paint Line, I got to work. I used Rosebud, Raspberry Sorbet, Snowflake and Onyx. The stripes were done with Frog Tape.

I get messy

I kept on striping....

And painting...

I use a spouncer for the dots. The prints were Decoupaged onto the lower drawers. Sometimes this happens...

CHEERS 🥂

I kept painting...

Different sized spouncers different widths on the Frog Tape helped me achieve the funky look I was going for. I decided to give the inside of the drawers a bit of a POP of color with Miss Lillian’s Mayan Turquoise. ( it’s in the photo with the wine. Lol)

this Hat keeps the paint out of my hair and was left to me by a funky lady who lived to be 100. Fran would be happy to see me wear her hat.

And done! Fiona loved it and she fits into that chair perfectly. I’m told she uses it every day.

Did you design it ahead of time, or just jump into it? As a novice “artist”, I usually jump in with a vague idea, and then “create” it as I go. I’m just wondering if you had this vision from the beginning or if it evolved.

    Amazing piece!

Absolutely awesome...one question, doesn't a good glass of wine help with the project?

Totally kewl and funky! Great job! Question: I wasn't able to find a child's sized antique deco vanity online. Don't you think it would have had a lot of value left as is to sell? Not that Fiona would have like that lol!
