Modern Gray Dresser Makeover

As with most of our furniture makeovers, this dresser was in rough shape when we found it. Missing hardware, scratches everywhere and it was just plain old dirty.

It never ceases to amaze me what a little bit of paint and time can do to freshen up a piece of furniture and change the look and feel of a room in your home!

Here is what the dresser looked like before paint.

First I removed the hardware, cleaned it all up and repaired damage.

I primed it to prevent bleed through issues, (ugly stains that show through the paint in yellow, orange or red splotches.)

And then I painted it all in a solid dark gray paint finish.

Thank goodness for a paint sprayer to make the job quick and easy!

For added durability I sealed the whole dresser with water-based poly.

I found some new knobs, but the finish didn't match the finish of the original handles that I wanted to use still. So I used Rub N Buff to make the mismatching hardware look seamless.

Here is the finished piece! Sleek, modern, and farmhouse all at the same time!
