The Uncomfortable Bench

Andrea Gray

Twin headboard and footboard that has seen a hard life. I loved the sleigh bed aspect and thought the rounded edges would make great rolled arms. The drama is cutting the footboard in half without crying. It's a sleigh bed darn it. It's like a massacre. I used a reciprocating saw and very steady hand, as best as I could with a saw that moves that much.
We built a frame out of 1x4 pine and fastened with pocket holed screws.
Here it is put together painted and distressed. Little plywood, foam and some fabric and it will be ready to go.
2" foam and outdoor canvas fabric on 1/2" plywood.
Here is the finished product.

I have a queen sleigh bed head/foot board that broke. The wood is solid and HEAVY. I was hoping I had enough to refurb my counters. This is an AMAZING creation!!! Thank you for Sharing!

Feel your pain cutting the sleigh bed, but it certainly is lovely now and a lot more useful

I have been holding on to a twin sleigh bed, unable to get rid of it because I like it so much. Thanks for sharing your project. Now I have a way to enjoy using it again & take it out of storage.
