Twin Size Alder Wood Door Headboard

We got our hands on an 8' x 42" wide Alder Wood front door. It was a beast. The door originally retailed for $1800 and I didn't want to see it go to waste. With that width and styling, if cut in half we could make two twin size door headboards.
The smaller of the two halves is what you see here. We took a piece of masonite to cover the opening of where the handle was already cut out. After doing some sample staining, Dark Walnut seemed to match it perfectly. We attached it and put a fresh cote of poly over the top.
Next we added the sides, legs and our signature crown molding shelf then painted those parts Onyx Black. We think it turned out nice.
Please give us your feedback.

I think its great . I wouldn't mind one for my bed. Mine didn't come with a headboard , it's like a sleep o matic because I have to sleep with my head raised so I can breath. I'm on oxygen. Now all I have to do is find a cheap door. Lily C Canada
