DIY Barn Door Using Sheet Siding

Barn doors are trendy, functional and decorative. Creating one with sheet siding made this difficult project a little less difficult and inexpensive.
This project only require sheet siding, 1 x 6s, 2 x 2s, galvanized pipe, flanges, nipples and elbows, wood glue, screws and casters. And level and tape measure. These very important. You can have all your wood pre-cut at your local hardware store or big box store.
Start by laying your sheet siding with the grooves face up. Take your jig saw and remove the tongues from both side of the sheet. Take your screws and wood glue and attach 1 x 6s the way you want them. Then sand it down...removing all the loose fibers off the wood and cleaning up your raw edges.
Now you are ready to stain or paint. Whatever your preference is. I used a foam brush and dark walnut Minwax. After I stained it...I then wiped the stain with a clean rag. You gonna want to wear gloves for this part. Then you add your casters. And walla...you have a barn door.
Install your hardware and hang it. I used a galvanized pipe and eye screws. But there is definitely more options.
