How to Make Soft Сhannel Headboard || DIY Tufted Headboard

4 Materials
4 Hours

Hello, my friends!

For the price tag, this is one of my favorite projects. It took about 4 hour and it was so cheap. The results are just amazing and I love the fact that I can change the look of the headboard later down the line. If I want to go with a different color then I can reupholster using a different fabric. Here's how I did it:

I made a soft headboard for my bed. It's easy to make and does not require many professional tools.

I needed the following materials:

- Plywood 1400*1000*12 mm

- Sheet of foam rubber 1200*2000*30 mm

- Sintepon 1000*2000*10 mm

- Fabric 2 pieces 1400*1000 mm

- Timber 1500*20*40 mm 5 pcs

- Spunbond fabric

- Adhesive for foam rubber Sintex

I drew a pattern on plywood and cut it with a circular saw.

Then I cut it with my disc saw

Foam rubber cut out according to the details template

I glued the foam rubber with a special glue for foam rubber.

I covered the finished panels with padding polyester to round the corners of the foam rubber.

Then I covered the panels with fabric. You can chose any color you want.

Upholstered panels with spunbond from the back.

I made a frame from a bar, and fixed soft panels on it.

Along the perimeter of the frame, I launched an LED strip. A bunch of glow modes and is controlled from a mobile phone. If you feel like it, you can do the same :)

The headboard is ready and can be installed.

I hope you like my headboard.

First of all, great idea and looks good!

I was wondering what you think of this spin on it. I have a lot of friends and family with little, very little extra money, and the rise in the costs of any type of wood makes this project out of reach. One family lives in a trailer and a padded headboard would help with warmth.

How long do you think it would hold up using foam board and scrap lumber to add stability? I've restored chairs thad had nothing but card board backs for stability, which is what made me think of this.

This is the best looking headboard I’ve seen so far (I like odd shapes). I have been searching for ideas for a DIY headboard. Thanks so much for sharing your creativity, eventually I will be trying to make this headboard!
