Seeking advice on how to replace seats & backs on iron patio chairs.
I cut plywood to fit and then upholstered!
Make sure you buy sunbrella fabric to reduce stains, and if putting outside it makes it easier to clean.
If you have access to the right tools...

Hi Mitzi. You can cut cardboard to fit the seats of your wrought iron chairs. Use a spray adhesive to add foam on top of the cardboard. Next comes batting. Wrap the batting over the foam. And, last but not least, wrap outdoor fabric over the entire seat. Pull it tight and secure it to the back side of the cardboard. You can use staples to secure it in place. Cut off any extra fabric past the staples. Good luck Mitzi. Stay safe. Stay healthy.
Hi Mitzi,
Make a template with card or paper. Cut out circular timber seats. down and stain. If you are worried they may drop through due to rotting metal, make a wire (possible chicken wire and form that as a sub frame to take the timber by cutting and bending it around and wiring it in place). Best wishes. You could always make a string seat by weaving across and in and out the frame too.......
Card board and standard plywood won't hold up. Use exterior plywood and exterior foam or wrap with Sunbrella exterior fabric or you are totally wasting your home fans material. Exterior rated foam releases moisture and doesn't promote mold like interior foam. Good luck and enjoy you new seats.

Not sure how your furniture is, but here is a tutorial where I show you how I made simple cushions for wicker furniture.
Use the old ones if you have them for templates. Use a sturdy fabric, preferably one intended for outdoors if that's where they are. Reattach the same way the original was. Good luck and stay well!
Just conver the ones that are there with new material flip over the chairs unscrew the seats and remove then cover with new material staple the material down pulling as you go and staple till the chair is done staple top then the bottom to hold in place then keep going.
