Unique Scaffolding Board Furniture Upcycle.

I just can't walk past a skip (dumpster) without having a quick look in to see if there are any rich pickings. A few weeks ago I picked out a lovely old scaffolding board from my neighbours skip, knowing I would find something to do with it.

Well, when one of my old chairs broke, I didn't just chuck it out I knew that I could mash it together with the scaffolding board to make an awesome unique piece of furniture.
The first thing I did was tidy up the scaffolding board by giving it a good sand and then adding an outdoor (marine) varnish to protect the wood.
The next thing I did was dismantle the chair. I was only interested in the chair legs. I carefully sawed all four legs off the chair ensuring they were all the same height.
I carefully clamped each leg in turn upright and drilled a hole down the center of each leg.
I used four large long screws to attach the chair legs to the scaffolding board to make a unique bench.
I loved the colour of the chair legs so just left them as they were. I really do like my quirky bench.
The bench was originally going to be for the garden but I love it so much that I might have indoors in the hallway. I think I will be on the look out for another scaffolding board so I can have another bench like this one.

This is not the only bench in my garden you should check out my awesome Marimekko bench I upcycled here.
