Vacuum Hack: How to Make Your Vacuum Cleaner Smell Amazing
I've got a fantastic vacuum hack that will not only keep your space clean but also leave it smelling amazing. If you have young children or a furry pet, you probably have a stick vacuum too. Stick vacuums can get a little stinky over time, but don't worry – I've got a solution for you. Let's dive into it!
Tools and Materials
- Your stick vacuum
- Scented oils (your favorite scent)
- Cleaning cloth or paper towel
How to make your vacuum smell good
1. Cleaning the Vacuum
Begin by removing all the dirt, hair, and debris from your stick vacuum. Take your time and clean out all the nooks and crannies to ensure it's as clean as possible.
2. Locate the Filter
Find the filter in your stick vacuum. It's usually in a removable compartment. Consult your vacuum's manual if you're unsure about the filter's location.
3. Adding Scented Oils
Now, this is where the magic happens! Grab your favorite scented oil and about twice a year, add just a few drops of the scented oil onto the filter. This will infuse your vacuuming experience with a wonderful fragrance.
After adding the scented oil, give it a few moments to settle onto the filter. This will ensure that the scent disperses evenly as you vacuum.
4. Reassemble the Vacuum
Once the scented oil has had a chance to settle, put the filter back in its place and reassemble any compartments you opened earlier.

SammyCastaneda on Nov 27, 2023Nice hack! Another thing worth trying is keeping your vacuum fresh when cleaning carpet on stairs ( https://www.popularvacuums.com/articles/best-way-how-to-clean-carpet-on-stairs.html ). Sometimes those areas can accumulate odors. Baking soda with a few drops of essential oil sprinkled on the carpet before vacuuming works wonders. It absorbs smells and leaves a pleasant fragrance behind. Great for a clean and fresh staircase!
