Cleaning Your Toilet: One Way I Do It.

Just in case you are new to keeping house, I wanted the share one way I do the job. I say one way, because sometimes I use denture tablets, or bleach, or baking soda and vinegar, or just window cleaning spray. But today’s method is a thorough but pretty easy way.
I started with toilet cleaner with bleach. I like the gel. I do use colored cleaners the most so I can see where I squirt the cleaner and see what needs to be wiped off. I squirt the liquid under the entire rim of the toilet, and around the hinges.
I used toilet paper to wipe around the rim. The very front of the rim often has yuck that the scrubbing brush doesn’t get. I set that tissue on top of the tank for now.
Next I used a toilet brush. Some people worry about germs being left on the brush. I figure, if the bleach is in the bowl I’m cleaning, it’s going to kill most of the germs on the toilet brush. Thanks to the color of the gel, I could see where I had not scrubbed Yet. Scrub under the rim, all around the bowl, and down the bottom.
After scrubbing the inside, I used the brush to scrub the outside. I then used more toilet paper to wipe and clean around bottom of the toilet at the floor, around the hinges and on the back of the toilet. I used more tissue to dust the tank lid and wipe down the lid, seat and toilet rim to get any gel or dirt that was left. The whole job only took about 12 sheets of toilet paper.
Everything gets flushed down with no problem. When the water starts filling and the paper is gone, I do a speed rinse in the water for the toilet bowl and toilet brush. Then my toilet does a second round of flushing automatically before the toilet fills with water. If your toilet doesn’t do this, you need to do a second flush.
The final flush. Nice and clean inside.
Toilet brush is back in “her” holder. The toilet is nice and clean outside.
