They should be stored facing up, you can make storage for them out of an old tip or bucket or you can buy brush stands. I keep mine in an old cookie tin. Works great.
I store my brushes in a large coffee can.
A fun canister
I use mason jars.
Always store them bristles up in a jar or tin can.
Glass jars also work well. I have also used pretty vases.
Put them in a glass jar or can decorate it put them handle first in so bristles stay streight.
I saw someone use toe separators (the kind they use to give people pedicures) attached to peg board in a craft room once, it worked great and was super cute!
You could also fill a large tall jar with skewers then insert the brushes

Thanks everyone for the brush storage ideas I will try several to see what I can use ...I appreciate your answers...rosa
Keep them dry and store them in a jar upright. You don't want any pressure on the brushes while you are storing them, and you want to be sure they are dry or mold may start to grow.
Here are some really cool ideas from Pinterest where you can get inspo from.
I would go to Michaels or Hobby Lobby and buy a container that will help you store different sizes brushes.
