Today, I'm sharing how to make DIY napkin rings for your dining table from inexpensive supplies (some of which you most definitely have at home right now). These simple DIY napkin holders will be a great addition to your dinner party decor.

Napkin holders are a great way of turning your table decor into something special without a lot of work. The best thing is, you can easily make your own it doesn't take much time either!

I recently came across a pretty bow napkin folding technique that required napkin rings to make it work. I thought the bows would look great as part of our Easter tablescape set-up, although I didn't have enough napkin rings for every place setting so I decided to make some instead!

DIY napkin holders

This simple project took me around half an hour to complete, tops. The most time-consuming part is wrapping the empty toilet rolls with raffia.

These are the supplies you will need:

  • Empty paper toilet rolls
  • Scissors
  • Raffia
  • Hot glue gun
  • Hot glue sticks
  • Dried flower heads

Please see the original blog post for more details of the supplies used.

TIP: I used natural colored raffia for my DIY napkin holders but you can use colored raffia or acrylic paint to make your napkin rings different colors.

DIY napkin holders

First off, cut the empty paper toilet rolls into small pieces. (Just over an inch wide or 3.5 cm).

Next, wrap the raffia around the toilet roll many times.

Once the toilet roll napkin ring is completely covered, use the hot glue gun to stick the end of the raffia to the inside of the napkin ring.

Now, you can use scissors to snip off any loose ends of raffia.

Finally, glue a dried flower head onto the top of each napkin ring.

You can easily make floral napkin rings in minutes and add them to your dining table for a special occasion or for a girly dinner with your closest friends.

I hope you like this spring craft project and, maybe, I've inspired you to have a go at making some DIY napkin holders too!
