These easy diy wine cork napkin rings are perfect for your wine tasting party.

They are amazingly simple to make and totally emphasize the party’s theme.

I was working on a wine and cheese pairing party and wanted my table to connect with the theme of the party. But I didn’t want it to be obnoxious. I wanted it to be subtle, yet noticeable.

These napkin rings with wine corks as the focus were perfect!

And they couldn’t be easier!!

All I needed were wine corks and empty toilet paper rolls.

Easy-peasy.

Supplies to Make Wine Cork Napkin Rings

  • Empty toilet paper (or paper towel) rolls
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Knife & cutting board

How to Make Easy DIY Wine Cork Napkin Rings

Step 1: Gather your supplies

Okay – you are wanting to make wine cork napkin rings. You’re gonna need wine corks, so I guess that means ya gotta drink some wine. I found that 4 wine corks per napkin ring were needed.

If you haven’t been already saving your wine corks, don’t go out and guzzle a few bottles for this project. Just ask your friends and family to save theirs for you. Or maybe call your local wine store (or a nice restaurant) and ask them to put a few aside for you. That should be an easy task for them.

Step 2: Prepping the wine corks

You will be cutting the wine corks in half, lengthwise.

At first, I found that was really hard to do with my corks. I even pulled out a handsaw, but that wasn’t any easier.

So to make it easy to cut your wine corks, steam them for a few minutes. Yep, put them in a steamer pot and steam them for a few minutes. The moisture will temporarily soften them up and make them A LOT easier to cut.

Once your wine corks are softened, cut them in half lengthwise with a serrated knife on a cutting board.

You will most likely need to use a sawing motion.

Step 3: Prep your empty toilet paper rolls

I found that each toilet paper roll made 4 homemade wine cork napkin rings.

A toilet paper roll is 4 inches long. Take a ruler and mark off at the 1 inch, 2 inch, and 3 inch spots.

Now cut your toilet paper roll at each mark.

You should have four equal-sized rings.

Step 4: Assembling your simple diy wine cork napkin rings

To assemble your napkin rings made from wine corks, add glue to the toilet paper roll and attached a wine cork piece with the flat side connected to the toilet paper roll.

I chose to use tacky white glue, but hot glue would also work well.

Continue to add wine cork pieces until you have completely covered the toilet paper roll.

How easy was that?

Now slip in a napkin and add them to your table setting.

Aren’t these easy diy wine cork napkin rings the best!

And it didn’t cost you anything (except for the enjoyment of drinking wine ~ haha).

lol, I have the table cloth but not the napkins! It is such a pretty pattern with great colors. I am wondering if you glue the halves to each other's sides and use the TP partial roll to stabilize them till dry if you could remove the TP roll? This is a great idea but I don't love seeing the roll once the napkin is taken out.
