Halloween DIY Tutorial: How To Make a Wicked Witch Hat
Welcome to a DIY adventure where I'll walk you through every step of conjuring your very own wicked witch hat. With a bit of ingenuity and a dash of Halloween spirit, I’ll show you how to transform a tomato cage and some basic materials into a spellbinding centerpiece for your outdoor Halloween DIY project.
This post was transcribed by a member of the Hometalk editorial team from the original HometalkTV episode.
Tools and Materials:
- Tomato cage
- Light strand
- Rectangle tablecloth
- Round tablecloth
- Solar panel
- Tape
- Scissors
1. Create the Hat Structure
Begin by placing your tomato cage upside down in your yard.
To ensure a pointy tip that's worthy of a wicked witch hat, tape the prongs together. This forms the foundation for your Halloween prop.
2. Wrap the Frame with Lights
Grab your light strand and start wrapping at the top of the cage.
Wind it around and around until you reach the bottom.
3. Wrap the Frame with Fabric
Unfold your rectangle tablecloth and lay it out. Wrap it snugly around the tomato cage, giving your hat a fabric base. Trim off any excess to ensure a seamless fit.
4. Add a Cone Effect
Now, grab your round tablecloth and fold it into a cone shape. Snip off the excess fabric from the bottom to perfect the look.
Place the circle tablecloth on the ground.
Place the tomato cage on top of the circle tablecloth.
5. Soak in Solar Power
Position your solar panel strategically to soak up the sunlight it needs to illuminate your witch hat during the night.
