Hardware Store Tile Ornaments

I'm one of those people who the staff of hardware stores asks if I need help then look at me confused when I tell them what I'm looking for and why. Yep. I'm a crafter in a hardware store! The minute I saw ornaments made from these I knew I had to get some! For my project you'll need vinyl and a cutting machine but if you don't have, you could use stickers!

Most people see these as quatrefoil shaped porcelain glazed tiles. Makers see ornaments! Mine came from Lowes. $5.98 for a sheet of 15.

Remove tiles from backing. Clean with alcohol or glass cleaner. Decide on your image or phrase, size in your machine's software and cut using vinyl of choice. To ensure fit, my images are sized 2.7" in height.

Apply transfer tape to your vinyl and then apply transfer to your tile.

Once your vinyl is applied, hot glue ribbon hanger to back, cut a small strip of ribbon, center and glue to front on the pointy end so it 's even with your ribbon hanger, wrap around to the back and glue down. Make a ribbon bow and glue to front!

This is the back of the tiles which I left as is since they were neutral but you can cover with paper, paint, or felt.

I'm focused on giving back to local businesses who've gotten us through the pandemic this year so I themed mine to those places. One for where my husband gets his coffee beans. One for a local cafe. One for my go to Starbucks!

I also made this one for our local Post Office!
