Surprise your furry companion with a brand new toy that’s environmentally friendly and economical, yet just as good as the store-bought ones. This DIY dog bone will become your pet's favorite plaything in a flash.

The main idea behind this project is to use up the old denim you have laying around in a smart and efficient way. Instead of throwing out those jeans that you won’t wear anymore, just transform them into a lovely dog toy that’s cute and durable  Here’s how you can do that.

You will need a few pairs of old jeans. Polyfill stuffing, pins, scissors, chalk and the dog boy toy pattern (free to download)

Cut the jeans

Print out the free dog bone toy template and place it on the fold of the jeans. Cut out two pieces like this - one for the front and one for the back.

Feel free to cut at the seams or pockets, that won’t get in your way while sewing, and it will make the toy look peculiar in a good way.

Sew the dog bone

Unfold the two denim pieces you have and set them over each other. Keep the right sides facing inward, align the edges, and pin the layers in place.

Sew around the fabric, but leave a small gap unstitched for turning. Sew around the bone one more time with a serger or your regular sewing machine set on a zig-zag stitch. Don’t close the opening!

Finish the DIY dog bone toy

Turn the bone inside-out through the opening and push out the edges. Press it flat.

Fill it with stuffing as much as you wish. Sew the gap shut and you’re done!

We hope you liked the project! Your four-legged pal will love it for sure. Tell us how it turned out in the comments section below, we love hearing back from you guys. And feel free to check out our other projects if you feel like doing a bit more sewing after you finish this dog toy.
