This is a quick and inexpensive way to make a wreath for the holiday season.
Watch the video to see how it's done, or read the tutorial below.
To make this wreath, you will need a 24" foam wreath base, 9' of garland, 9' of ribbon, 2 pipe cleaners, a hot glue gun, and some wire cutters.
We find that 9' of garland works perfectly for a 24" wreath base. Start the garland by gluing the first end at the 3 o'clock position of the ring. From this point, wrap the garland around the ring by going through the hoop, around the back, and through the hoop repeatedly until the garland is evenly wrapped around the ring.
Once the garland is evenly wrapped around the foam ring, glue the end of the garland down, and glue each pass of the garland down so that it doesn't shift or move around on you.
To make the bow, start by make a loop and hold it between your thumb and forefinger. Grab the ribbon behind the main loop that you made, and twist the ribbon 180 degrees. Pull out the ribbon and create an "ear" approximately 6 to 8 inches long.
After creating the first ear, and returning the ribbon back behind the main loop, twist the ribbon again 180 degrees. Make an "ear" of the same size on the other side. Do this until you have 4 ears on each side of the loop.
Run the pipe cleaner through the main loop that you created, and wrap it around the bunch that you've created. Tie it in the back tightly.
Create the tail, by taking the remainder of the ribbon and folding it in half. Returning the rest of the tail back to the bunch that you created. Fold the ribbon in half width wise, and tie it up in the pipe cleaner. Flatten out the ribbon and get ready to cut it.
Fold the ribbon width wise and cut on an angle at the bottom. This will create two separate tails with a nice finish at the bottom. Arrange the head of the bow to your liking and use the second pipe cleaner to tie it to the bottom of wreath. Around one of the garland loops.
Congratulations, you've now created your very own handmade Christmas wreath. Hang it on your front door and display it with pride. You've earned it. Thanks for stopping by, and be sure to check out the our other tutorials.
