With very little time, money or energy, I still wanted to decorate some of the trees I use every year inside. I hope you get some ideas, and remember, the Twelfth Day of Christmas is not until January 5!

The Lighted Tree

Can’t get much simpler than this. My granddaughter, age 8, put this Christmas tree together with Papaw’s help. The tree is prelit with cool burning colored lights. Claire put fewer than a dozen old ornaments on the tree. She also made an ornament from a plastic globe from Dollar Tree by adding two silk flowers I had in a bag. We didn’t even get our traditional cross/star on the tree, although my husband tried twice. Assuming you have your own tree, you can do this tree decorating for $1 for the new ornament.

The Bird Tree

The second cheap and easy tree is made of sticks and thin vines. I found the tree I bought years ago at a garage sale, and tried several ideas. But the one I went with was a Bird Tree! I had a very few fake birds in trees and flower vases around the house. Just because I liked them, I bought a red bird and a blue bird from Dollar Tree. The grandchildren moved the birds around several times over three days. So, if you have a small tree, you can buy two new birds and have the Bird Tree for $2.

The Chocolate Tree

I had a hard time taking a picture of the Chicolate Tree. This tree was given to us two years ago as a Money Tree at church. I was having to work in my bed, while working with other projects, and wrapping presents and dealing with other things, all on my bed. And my little family dropped by unexpectedly on Christmas Eve and I lost half the Hershey’s Kisses and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Minis. But the next day, my younger son was very happy with this Chocolate Tree with $2 worth of candy from Walmart!

Birdbrain

And this is the 6-year-old granddaughter who sneaked most of the chocolate, hung doorhangers as ornaments on the big tree, and who put all the birds on herself and ran around showing everybody that she was a “birdbrain”.

So I only spent $5 to decorate three artful trees for Christmas, and we had a wonderful time together.
