1. Prepare the Lampshades
First things first, gather all the lampshades you want to use for your unique Christmas tree.
Remove the fabric from each lampshade revealing the frame.
Next, remove the center rings from each one. This will ensure each lampshade can easily slide over the trunk we will make in the next step.
2. Prepare the Pole
For your tree's trunk, grab a humble broom handle. Give it a little TLC by sanding it down to ensure a smooth surface.
3. Secure the Pole
Time to ensure your Lampshade Christmas Tree stands tall and proud. Grab a bucket of pre-mixed concrete and place the pole right into the center of it.
Let it dry to create a stable base for your DIY Christmas tree.
4. Paint the Lampshades
Get your paint and brushes ready! Paint each frame with the color of your choice. This step is where you can get creative and really make your tree your own.
5. Assemble Your Lampshade Christmas Tree
Now, let's put it all together. Place the entire bucket and pole into a beautiful old crock or container.
To space out the lampshades and keep them in place, slide each lampshade over the pole and mark where you'd like it to hang.
Use that mark to apply hot glue to the back of the pole. Then, wrap some twine around the pole four or five times, this will be the spot where each shade sits.
Slip the lampshades over the pole and secure them with hot glue.
6. Add the Finishing Touch
No Christmas tree is complete without some twinkle. wrap some thin copper lights around the lampshades and the pole. Simply loop them in and out around the lampshades to create a magical glow.

Laurie on Oct 26, 2023If you wanted a more traditional look, you could also wire on artificial evergreen swags or branches to the outside of the shades. (a cheap artificial tree is the result)
